OUT NOW!

You are sewer heroes, born down below. When the emperors and kings sent their men to slap down the hrungles and grungles of The Aqueducts, you rose from the dark. You killed the masters of the rising, burning, glowing world, but there are so many of them and their wealth is so vast. Victory will take a long time.

RANK & VILE is a dark fantasy caltropcore game about sewer heroes robbing an evil empire, complete with an original d4 conflict resolution system. It's based around The Card Dungeon, a mechanic inspired by the video game Hand Of Fate. The Grime Mistress lays down cards, and the Sewer Heroes flip them over to discover exciting rooms!

Pick one of three exciting and specific Kits and join your comrades in the dark as you face The Shining Empire, Horrors, Beasts and... oh, gods, Fungus! Gather new Perks and Gadgets, and after five or so floors bring what you've got home to ponder over a set of about a dozen epilogues.

I am new to tabletop fun so I have some questions:

  • How many players does this game support? (min/max) Please clarify if your number includes or excludes a GM.
  • What is the average play time?
  • Is there a solo mode or not?

I get frustrated because it seems this information is not included on a lot of game page descriptions on itch.io. Maybe it’s obvious to people who are already into TTRPGs, but not to me as a noob!

Kiwi, sorry there's not much info! This game was made during a much more lax era in my TTRPG design, so forgive the looseness. It's made for a party of 2-4 with a GM, and it'll probably take a few multi-hour sessions to finish a campaign. Unfortunately this game hasn't been thoroughly playtested, so I can't give more specific numbers.
